Lorraine Kelly shares health update and gives huge praise to NHS staff (2025)

Lorraine Kelly was admitted to hospital to undergo a major operation, as she provided fans with an update on Sunday night.

Lorraine Kelly has taken to social media to give an update on her health. The Scottish ITV presenter was admitted to hospital earlier this week to undergo a major operation.

The 65-year-old admitted she hadn't been feeling great for a while, before later disclosing she was having her ovaries removed during "preventative" keyhole surgery. Taking to Instagram, Lorraine has now provided fans with a welcomed update.

The Glasgow-born TV star shared a photo in a hospital chair, surrounded by NHS staff as she was beaming in the snap.

Lorraine confirmed she would be returning home, and following strict orders to rest following the procedure. She captioned the post: "Huge thanks to these kind, caring, gorgeous professionals who took care of me at @heatherwoodhospital - back home now and following doctors orders to rest up - My surgeon Mr Ahmed Rafaat has been so reassuring throughout - and I can’t thank the whole team enough! #care #kindness #professionalism #thanks #hospital #lucky."

Fans soon rushed to the comments to share their well-wishes for her on a speedy recovery, as well as her beloved colleagues. Dr Amir Khan was among those commenting, who said: "So glad you’re home, what a fantastic team x"

Katie Piper added: "Glad you are home. Rest up," alongside a heart emoji whilst Sir Chris Hoy echoed: "Get well soon Lorraine," also sharing a heart to the post. Strictly's Amy Dowden chimed, "Sending lots of love xxxx"

One fan wrote, "Glad you’re back home lovely. Now rest up and recover well," sharing kisses. "Hope your recovery is fast and you stay well sending you a hug all wrapped up with love x," added another.

Someone else wrote, "Good wishes and every blessing." It comes as Lorraine, who has recently become a grandmother, recently admitted she hasn't been feeling well for a while and will undergo the procedure following recent scans and tests.

She said: “I’ve not been feeling all that well for a little while. So I had some scans and tests and I have to have my ovaries and my tubes taken out. It’s purely preventative.

“It’s going to be with keyhole surgery, which is incredible. I’ve been very well looked after, and I’ll see you really soon, and I’m going to be totally fine.”

She shared the video to Instagram and thanked her surgeon Dr Raafat ahead of the operation. Dozens of fans and celebrity pals sent their thoughts to the TV host including Vanessa Feltz, Katie Piper and Susanna Reid.

Vanessa said: "Thinking of you and sending love. Let me know if you fancy a visit. Love V xx." While Katie added: "Hope you make a speedy recovery." Susanna simply said: "Sending you all the love in the world."
